Services Section  -  Hotels, Restaurants, Pubs

It has come to our attention in many organizations such as Hotels, Restaurants, and Pubs that staff are signing into work on a time sheet or using swipe cards, It is then up to the manager of each respective department to monitor the staff as they sign/ swipe out. These sheets are then entered manually into a payroll package. There is no way of tracking anomalies such as absenteeism and lateness.

This situation concludes that all staff may sign in at reception as they start their daily duties, they sign out each evening. The process is similar with that of swipe cards which means that there is no way of monitoring lunch breaks, lateness, or absenteeism accurately.

In monetary terms, the company will pay for an eight-hour shift for each employee and will have absolutely no way of checking if the employee had actually worked the hours.

Results have shown that the Biometric Access Control system has improved employee attendance and employee time management which creates huge savings on wages.

Manufacturing Section  -    Large Volume of Employees

In large Organizations which may have over 1000 employees and  a large number of contract personnel who all need access  to specific areas of the premises, it is vital to install a Biometric Access system. The 2 main reasons are:

1)    Access Control

2)    Time & Attendance

Large volumes of people, all requiring access to different areas of the premises means that there is a continuous requirement for I.D swipe cards as the number of new on-site employees may vary daily. This means every new contractor and tradesman will require a photo I.D swipe-card. This is very time consuming and leads to a loss in revenue due to lost, stolen and damaged swipe cards. The Biometric system requires only a fingerprint which increases speed and security as well as dramatically reducing cost.

The Biometric Access control system makes it much easier to calculate the hours worked of personnel as previously time sheets would have been used, and taken much longer to calculate. Once the clocking appear on the system it makes it much easier to work out the hours worked. There may be a different amount of people on site to keep track of each day. These people are now monitored by the system.

Care Services  -  Nursing Home, Nursery

Generally the introduction of The Biometric Access control system is welcomed by everybody in the organization because, its a very useful time saving tool, staff react very well as they now clock-in using the biometric reader (finger recognition clocking). As Security and safety of all is paramount, each unit manager is responsible for the safety of the children in their care it is vital that only the correct staff be there at any time. Now, with biometric readers in place there is 100% peace of mind.

Academic Institutions  -  Schools, Colleges, Universities

We are aware that not all universities take a roll call for every lecture but, the Fire Services Act, 1981 Section 18 states that all people in a building must be accounted for in the case of a fire. It is very time consuming taking an attendance record but, if every student placed their finger on the sensor as they enter the lecture theatre, then the individual lecturer would have an attendance for their own personal reference as well as knowing the number of people in the building at all times and the precise location of these people. Once students have signed into the system, this information can be easily exported to a Microsoft spreadsheet for printout purposes.

The government has tightened their policy relating to non national residents. They now ask colleges for attendance sheets to prove certain non nationals are actually attending the college.

Many Colleges are now fully equipped with expensive equipment such as overhead projectors and computer equipment. It is almost impossible to account for damage or theft of the equipment. In the case of a simple biometric unit on every floor, it will be possible to trace exactly who was interfering with the equipment and when the incident occurred.
